How to photograph British wildlife About the event Discover how to get the very best from your camera and achieve incredible wildlife photography at this online talk, with professional photographer Andrew James. Andrew’s talk will cover the technical and creative challenges of photographing wildlife in the UK. He’ll look at the gear you need to be a successful wildlife photographer, as well discuss composition, species, and how to find that perfect balance between the main subject and its environment. Covering everything from butterflies in your back garden to ospreys catching trout at breakneck speed, his talk will give you the inspiration you need to get out more with your camera. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions after the main presentation. About your speaker Andrew James is a professional photographer and tutor with over thirty years experience in shooting images, writing about the technical and creative aspects of photography and mentoring photographers on workshops and specialist led expeditions all over the world. He is the former editor-in-chief of Practical Photography and Digital Photo magazines - and currently writes regularly for Digital Camera Magazine. His decades of magazine work means he has experience of a wide range of shooting styles and techniques, from landscapes to portraits, from wildlife to studio photography. He is known for being creative with light and composition across all genres of photography. Andrew specialises in the natural world and his portfolio includes a showcase of evocative and immersive wildlife photography capturing impactful encounters with wild animals in their natural habitats around the globe. An image taken amidst incredibly tough conditions during a blizzard in Antarctica, saw him announced a winner in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition, one of the world's most prestigious photography competitions.
