Mosaic for HomeSchool

“Bringing learning to life”

This is a new proposition from Mosaic, the CRT education branch. Following the success of the Mosaic School Trips offering we are extending the programme to include home-schooled primary school aged children. The outdoor learning sessions will be run on Wednesday afternoons exclusively for home-schooled children and their parents/carers.

The children will be able participate in an outdoor learning programme on a working farm, that includes a robotic milking parlour, a herd of award–winning dairy cows, a woods with shelter, bird hide, log circle, minibeast area, den building, a wildlife pond with dipping platforms and outdoor classroom.

Each six week (half term) programme will be dedicated to a different age group to focus on the children’s educational needs and will align with the national curriculum.  The sessions are designed the context of the farm environment, farming cycles and seasonal changes.  Our holistic learning approach focuses on living things and their habitats, so may not appear like a normal lesson but rest assured the children will be absorbing knowledge in a very real way. We are offering a learning environment like no other and look forward to the children enjoying an “off the page” experience.

Our education officer is a fully qualified primary school teacher and has taught at wildlife parks in Australia and in the UK, including ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. She is DBS checked and First Aid trained.

Pierrepont Farm is a working dairy farm, all visitors to the farm must be aware of moving vehicles and animals.  Please note that the terrain is uneven in places, the children may pass over cattle grates and through “kissing” gates.
