Mosaic Holiday Club A kids club for 5-11 year olds, based at the CRT’s Pierrepont Farm in Frensham, Surrey. We offer children an action-packed morning or day of activities aimed at deepening their understanding of farming and wildlife. Children will meet the Jersey herd in the New Dairy cow barn and see first hand how they are milked. They’ll also take on a milking challenge. Older children will also have a go at making butter! You can combine the Dairy Discovery experience with a choice of pond or woodland themed activities. If you opt for our Pond Explorer experience you’ll learn how to pond dip and discover some fantastic facts about the underwater creatures you find. If you’d prefer to explore the woods, then our Woodland Adventure is for you. You’ll discover how to identify different trees from their leaves and bark and find out what creatures live in, on and under them. You’ll also go minibeast hunting too. All holiday clubs include a craft activity where children will make something to take home as a souvenir of their visit. They’ll also enjoy time navigating our woodland obstacle course during break times. Mosaic Holiday Club is led by our Education Manager, Gerry Turner, who is a qualified primary school teacher. Her wildlife experience includes working as a presenter at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and developing a visitor education centre at at a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary in Perth, Australia. She is DBS checked and First Aid trained. Summer Holiday Club We’re running 6 holiday clubs during the upcoming Summer holidays (dates and themes provided below), so why not give us a go! Remember, each holiday club includes a Dairy Cow Discovery experience so all you have to do is decide whether to combine it with the Pond Explorer or Woodland Adventure experience. Health & Safety: As a working farm the children will need to be aware of moving vehicles, such as tractors, as well as other hazards such as the River Wey which runs alongside the farm. The land is undulating and there are gates and cow grates to negotiate so please be aware of this when booking. If your child is afraid of cows, we’d suggest this might not be the holiday club for them! We will do a risk assessment for each session and will provide the children with a health and safety briefing at the start of every day. Covid-19 Safety: We are compliant with government guidelines relating to covid and provide handwashing facilities and hand sanitisers around the site. To safeguard everyone’s wellbeing and safety we ask parents not to send their child if they present with a high temperature, continuous cough or loss of taste or smell on the day of the visit of within 7 days prior to the visit. What to wear and bring: We advise that children wear clothing that reflects the weather conditions. We will be outdoors! In the winter we advise wearing warm layers, waterproofs, thick socks, gloves, and hats. In the summer bring a light raincoat in case of showers, a sunhat and sun cream. We will not apply the sun cream to the children, so please make sure they can do it themselves. Please wear appropriate footwear. In wetter months we recommend that children bring a pair of wellies to change into. Walking boots or sturdy trainers are good for summer months (if it’s dry). Please bring snacks, water and a packed lunch if staying all day (no nuts please). All waste should be taken home with you. Other: To help us manage each child’s physical and emotional needs during the visit we ask parents to complete a screening questionnaire prior to the visit. This will be e-mailed once a booking has been made. *ticket price supports our vital conversation work developing a wider biodiversity and ecosystem across CRT sites.
