With the River Stour running along its eastern flank and suited to small-scale livestock working in harmony with the natural world, the
Countryside Regeneration Trust (CRT) is busy regenerating Bere Marsh Farm.

We are delighted to have produced a map to help you enjoy your visit.

Two public paths pass through the land as shown on the map: a wide public bridleway, part of the famous 14 mile-long North Dorset Trailway, and a smaller footpath that leads across floodplain meadows, over the river and towards Child Okeford.

Thanks to generous donations from the public, we've made 20 wildlife boxes for dormice for several of our Countryside Regeneration Trust properties.

Two new residents have made their home at Bere Marsh Farm in Dorset and are already squealing with excitement and busy rootling around.

Thanks to money raised in our Twelve Gifts of Christmas campaign, we were thrilled to buy new withies to plant in our osier beds at Bere Marsh Farm. These willows will help provide important habitat for wildlife.

What We Do

The CRT promotes nature-friendly farming to help reverse biodiversity decline and combat climate change. We believe nature is integral to good farming and we protect, promote and regenerate our land and all life on it. We put our philosophy into practice on over 2,000 acres of working farms, small-holdings and woodland across England.
Slow-worms – the gardener’s best friend

The UK has 6 native reptile species including the curious slow-worm (Anguis fragilis). Although serpent-like in appearance, slow-worms are in fact limbless lizards and an amazing example of de-evolution.

To achieve our vision of a living, working countryside we have purchased 18 sites across the UK, each with their own unique ecosystem and biodiversity.
