Let's see how many bat species we can discover on this exciting bat walk at Bere Marsh Farm
Led by guest expert Mariko Whyte from the Dorset Bat Group, you'll get to use heterodyne bat detectors and learn lots of fascinating facts along the way from Mariko.

We have been monitoring bats at Bere Marsh Farm for several years to help us better understand this intriguing species. There are 18 bat species in the UK, and we have routinely recorded 7 of these at Bere Marsh Farm to date. Advances in technology in recent times have made it easier for us to learn about these fascinating and secretive creatures of the night.

Our walk takes place from 6pm-8pm, an ideal time to see and hear bat activity. We will explore a variety of habitats on the farm including open fields and woodland margins. Who knows, we may encounter a bat species not previously recorded at Bere Marsh Farm before.
