Gerry Turner, Education Officer Lark Rise Farm, Pierrepont FarmAs part of our ongoing commitment to teach current and future generations about the importance of understanding and conserving our natural world, the CRT are delighted to announce the launch of their new Farm Activity Adventure programme, especially for Beavers and Cubs.

Our farms range in size from 40 to 400 acres and are a perfect location to socially distance whilst learning all about farming and wildlife.  CRT farms employ sensitive and sympathetic farming practices that encourage and protect wildlife. They are thriving landscapes full of flora and fauna just waiting to be explored.

We have aligned the Activity Adventures, namely Explore, Camp Craft, Gardener, Naturalist and Navigator, to Beavers/Cubs badges, allowing Colonies and Packs to not only enjoy a great farm visit but attain their badge at the same time! We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our farm visits are covid-19 compliant.  This means we have carried out a Covid-19 risk assessment, have hand washing and hygiene procedures in place in line with Government guidance and we have also adapted our activity sessions to allow children to maintain a 2m (or 1m with extra precautions) distance from each other.  All activity sessions last 1.5 hours and session start times are available between 4-6pm.

We would welcome a further discussion with you to hopefully gain your endorsement of the programme so that you can share this farm visit opportunity amongst your District Commissioners and Colony/Pack leaders.

We hope you will support our efforts to encourage youngsters to learn and understand more about farming and wildlife.  If you require any further information about Activity Adventures for Beaver & Cubs, or would like to arrange a farm visit, please do not hesitate to contact Gerry Turner, CRT Education Manager.
