Each event is led by a wildlife expert or enthusiast: from pond dipping and bluebells to fungi forays and the Dawn Chorus. Most of our events take place at Bere Marsh Farm in Dorset. The Friday Farm Walk

Every Friday 2-3pm from April to September. Enjoy a walk around the farm led by estate manager Hannah Bosence and guest leads. A different theme each week, from meadows and margins, to grazing practices and heritage breeds. Free event, donations welcome. Read more

Green Farm community days

Come along and learn more about our plans for woodland management and the restoration of rare lowland heathland at Green Farm. Monday 20th July 10am-12 midday and Thursday 23rd July 3pm-6pm. Read more

Summer workshop: grow mushrooms on wood

Led by expert mycologist Andy Knott of Jurassic Coast Mushrooms, a hands-on workshop to learn how and why to grow mushrooms in wood. Take the log home with you to grow mushrooms in your garden. Read more

Discovering bats in summer

Join our enchanting bat walk around Bere Marsh Farm, led by bat expert Mariko Whyte from the Dorset Bat Group. We'll provide heterodyne detectors for you to use to help identify species, plus Mariko will share many fascinating bat facts along the way. Read more

Cyanotype workshop

Take inspiration from the wildflower meadows at Bere Marsh Farm, gathering grasses and seed heads to use in your print. Learn all about the process of making cyanotypes to create a set of unique prints that you can take home at the end of the day. Read more

Creative workshop: willow weaving garden sculptures

Weave your own garden sculpture such as a dragonfly or flower using willow harvested from Bere Marsh Farm. Guided by expert Yanina Stockings, you'll learn different techniques, ideal for beginners and keen weavers. Read more

Moth Tetra Pak printing workshop

Create your own moth print on upcycled Tetra Pak packaging. Once printed, you will be able to hand-tint your prints with watercolour paints and a fine brush. This fun session led by art tutor Genny will introduce you to new techniques combined with the beauty of nature. Read more

Farmers & Makers Market

Shop locally at our Farmers & Makers Markets at Bere Marsh Farm. Buy fresh from our local producers, including cider vinegar, fresh bread, botanical candles and handmade walking sticks carved by our volunteers. Read more

Fungi foray - Autumn 1

Join us for an autumnal fungi foray at Bere Marsh Farm. Led by expert mycologist Andy Knott, we'll explore a variety of habitats as we search for the many species of fungi on the farm. From the tiniest emergent mushrooms so easily overlooked to flamboyant conspicuous species like Fly Agaric, Andy will help identify what we find and have plenty of fascinating facts to share along the way. Whatever motivates you to consider volunteering, we’d love to have you in our team.
What We Do

The CRT promotes nature-friendly farming to help reverse biodiversity decline and combat climate change. We believe nature is integral to good farming and we protect, promote and regenerate our land and all life on it. We put our philosophy into practice on over 2,000 acres of working farms, small-holdings and woodland across England.

Slow-worms – the gardener’s best friend

The UK has 6 native reptile species including the curious slow-worm (Anguis fragilis). Although serpent-like in appearance, slow-worms are in fact limbless lizards and an amazing example of de-evolution.

The CRT has a wide range of wonderful properties across the UK. Many of these have been left to us in legacy whilst others were purchased to save the land - full of precious ecosystems and habitats - from intensive farming.
Conservation Volunteer

This is your chance to get 'down and dirty' to help CRT improve the habitats and environment on our farms, with a wide range of conservation projects and initiatives.
