We’re delighted to introduce Sarah McCombe from Black Cat Catering, who is partnering with the CRT to run The Buzz pop-up coffee trailer on Bere Marsh Farm in Dorset.

Sarah set up her catering business during the COVID-19 pandemic, giving people a break from cooking during lockdown by providing restaurant-quality food to enjoy at home. Customers particularly loved tucking in to her three-course Mexican meal.

Over the last three years, Black Cat Catering has grown and grown, from catering for events to providing food for The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) shoots.

Sarah said: “I moved down to Dorset from Surrey eight years ago and created Black Cat Catering in August 2019, after I got made redundant from an office role. My true passion has always been for entertaining and to hear the buzz as people enjoy my food. I love creating simple, delicious food using good quality ingredients sourced from other local businesses.

“My son, now 14 years old, helped me choose the name Black Cat Catering in honour of our cat Oreo – he’s a spicy character. I’ve also had great support from my husband and parents to get the business rolling.”

Sarah lives only a few miles from Bere Marsh Farm, so when the CRT promoted on Facebook the opportunity to run its new pop-up coffee trailer, she snapped up the chance.

Sarah said: “I know how many people walk, cycle and horse ride through Bere Marsh Farm along the Dorset Trailway, so the potential of The Buzz to be a resource for the local community really stood out.”

Sarah has worked closely with the CRT team while we’ve converted an old horse box for the purpose, giving it a new lease of life. Visitors can enjoy sausage rolls, scones and cakes made by Sarah alongside Eco Coffee roasted in Dorset and milk from Meggy Moo`s Dairy, a family-owned dairy farm less than five miles from Bere Marsh.

Sarah met Meggy Moo’s owners at the Love Local Trust Local Awards 2022, where Black Cat Catering was highly commended in the Business Growth and Development category. Meggy’s Moo’s was runner-up for Conservation and Environment Sustainability.

The Buzz also stocks organic soft drinks from Dorset-based Whole Earth, and other delicious food and beverages from small local businesses.

You’ll find Sarah at The Buzz most weekends this spring and summer. Dogs are more than welcome, in fact you might just meet Sarah’s two rescue dogs, Dexter and Walter.

Sarah added: “We’re really excited to see what the future brings. If you live nearby or you’re passing, please do drop by and visit us.”
