Strange squeaks coming from an oak tree? Monitoring from dawn to dusk The warmth of the summer comes with longer daylight hours. However, a lot of species are most active during crepuscular hours and so our wildlife monitors follow suit. Yesterday, Dr Vince Lea was on a crepuscular evening walk around Westfield on Lark Rise Farm when heard a strange squeaking noise from an oak tree. It was a tawny owl chick, hungry and calling for food from a short distance from it's nest. Dr Vince Lea first noticed a tawny owl in a hollow tree throughout the winter and spring months which he reckons may be the nest site.
