Dairy Cow Discovery

Pierrepont Farm is home to an award-winning herd of beautiful Jersey cows. This bustling dairy farm offers children a real insight into the lives of the cows and why they are so special. Children will learn about food origins, food production, visit the robot milking parlour and get a chance to get up close to the resident cows. Our theme days are tailored to meet the needs of each year group.

Reception Class

Spend a fun-packed day learning all about dairy cows at Pierrepont Farm. Visit the cow barn to meet the herd of Jersey cows and watch them being milked. Discover how the farmer looks after them throughout the year and learn which of your favourite foods come from cows.

Years 1 & 2

Have you ever considered what life would be like without cows? No ice cream or cheese for starters! Take on our food sort challenge and learn what produce comes from cows and other farm animals. Meet our award winning Jersey herd and discover how our cows are milked by robots!

Years 3-6

How much do you really know about cows? Visit the cow barn to meet the Jersey herd and learn more about them. Find out more about food groups and food origins and how meat and dairy products contribute towards a healthy diet. Discover how our cows are milked and then have a go at making butter.

What We Do

The CRT promotes nature-friendly farming to help reverse biodiversity decline and combat climate change. We believe nature is integral to good farming and we protect, promote and regenerate our land and all life on it. We put our philosophy into practice on over 2,000 acres of working farms, small-holdings and woodland across England.
Slow-worms – the gardener’s best friend

The UK has 6 native reptile species including the curious slow-worm (Anguis fragilis). Although serpent-like in appearance, slow-worms are in fact limbless lizards and an amazing example of de-evolution.
