The Herefordshire Food & Farming Awards is designed to be a celebration of Herefordshire’s proud agricultural heritage.

Recognising all the hard work carried out day in and day out across the county, not only in helping feed the people of Herefordshire but the nation and beyond.

Conscious of conservation, diversification, preparation and presentation we are delighted to be sharing this celebration and creating a permanent record of everything Herefordshire has to offer to the Food and Farming industries.

The CRT has been working with a group of volunteers to look for evidence of hazel dormice in the hedgerows on Awnells Farm and Turnastone Court Farm.
Surveying butterflies as biological indicators

Butterflies can be considered biological indicators due to their high sensitivity to environmental change. On farmland, carrying out butterfly surveys can show us how valuable different areas of the farm are for butterflies, shedding light on where some habitat improvement may be needed.

What We Do

The CRT promotes nature-friendly farming to help reverse biodiversity decline and combat climate change. We believe nature is integral to good farming and we protect, promote and regenerate our land and all life on it. We put our philosophy into practice on over 2,000 acres of working farms, small-holdings and woodland across England.
Slow-worms – the gardener’s best friend

The UK has 6 native reptile species including the curious slow-worm (Anguis fragilis). Although serpent-like in appearance, slow-worms are in fact limbless lizards and an amazing example of de-evolution.
