Pierrepont Farm Featured in New Ambles & Rambles Podcast What a beautiful part of the world Pierrepont Farm is nestled in! Recently, we were delighted to take part in the latest Ambles & Rambles podcast series created by Whistlestop Arts and commissioned by the Surrey Hills National Landscape. The series explores walking routes across the Surrey Hills, meeting the people who live and work within this remarkable landscape. Pierrepont Farm featured in Week 2, Where Wild Things and Good Ideas Grow, which explores Frensham to Bourne with interviews with Kerriann McLackland, our Head of Estates, and Kayleigh Robb, our tenant farmer, who share insights into nature-friendly farming, conservation, and community engagement. The journey begins with a train to Haslemere followed by the number 19 bus, before setting off from Frensham Great Pond and continuing through the countryside to Lower Bourne. “We had never been to Pierrepont Farm before and couldn’t believe how much was happening along this well-worn walking route,” said Luna. “Meeting Kerriann was a real eye-opener in terms of what the CRT does and the many wonderful initiatives that help people understand where their food comes from, as well as how we can all support our local farmers by buying local. “Meeting Kayleigh was a real joy too, hearing about how she became a farmer, the work she does, and her partnership with the CRT to make her farm accessible to the local community was incredibly inspiring.” During the episode, Annalees and Luna also explore the transformed Old Dairy buildings, now home to a range of independent businesses including artisan food producers and creative workshops. There they meet Jess Noble, who runs jewellery-making classes for people of all abilities. “We really loved what she had done with the building, creating a beautiful environment for people to get creative while still capturing the beauty of the building’s heritage,” said Luna.”We know that so many people are working hard to make a difference in their local communities, and we want their voices to be heard in order to inspire visits and encourage a better understanding of what they do.” Kerriann said it was wonderful to be a part of the podcast as well as attend its recent launch. She said: “We explained how nature-friendly farming, conservation and rural livelihoods can support one another, offering a valuable insight into the realities of caring for land well. Kayleigh was able to talk about her route into farming as well as her Mangalitza pigs and the importance of helping people connect with where their food comes from.” To listen to the podcast, see whistlestopart.org/amblesrambles Ambles & Rambles is commissioned by Surrey Hills National Landscape and funded by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs Access for All programme, in partnership with Surrey Hills Arts and Surrey Hills Society, and supported by the Southeast Communities Rail Partnership.
